Hellooooooo

It’s been a long time since I've visited my blog, I'm surprised that anyone still drops in.  In reality I haven't been doing anything exciting but have been busy if that makes sense.

What have we been up to.  At the beginning of the month we went to “Oktoberfest” at the Maroochydore RSL club, Tony’s dad was German so they used to go to these alot .  My sister in law Linda loves having a good time.  No matter where you go with her it’s always fun and plenty of laughs.

My camera doesn't take very good indoor photos

How could I not know about this wonderful author Lee Child and his Jack Reacher novels.  There are 14 in the series and another to be released at the end of September.  I have now read all but two.  Love them, couldn't put them down

My Day At Bribie Island

DSCF6797

A few weeks ago I decided to head to Bribie Island for a spot of Op shopping.  I could only find a few stores in the phone book but thought I would drive down there anyway as it had been a few years since I had been to Bribie.

To my delight I found Op shops everywhere but didn't get a good haul I'm on a mission to find two chest of drawers and white things for my kitchen dresser.  They sound easy enough but no I'm still hunting.  There was a lot I thought about buying but I really don't have a lot of room at home so have become a bit selective.  All I got was a couple of books, a low carb cookbook ,  some old bottles and an old colander, not a good shopping day but enjoyable.

I stopped for a while by the water, it was a glorious winters day, one of those winter days that Queensland is famous for .

This is the bridge that you drive over to get to Bribie, you can just see the Glasshouse Mountains in the background, it was a bit windy and hazy.

Brisbane Botanical Gardens

As I had a lot of time to fill in while Tess was working at Northlakes Shopping Centre I invited Tess and the boys to come with me to the botanical gardens as I had never been there.  It was a freezing day (by our standards anyway), first we drove up to Mt Coot-tha Lookout there was a quaint little coffee shop up there so a warm drink and something to eat was the first order of the day.  Some of these photo’s were taken by Tess including the one’s of the duck and bird, I love the detail in those.

I thought the gardens looked a  little tired but then it is winter (not our rainy season) and Brisbane is very strict with water  usage Tess and I are definitely going back in spring I think it will look spectacular.

Between the two of us we were able to get some lovely photo’s of Lucy without her “my space” expressions which was really great.  We had a lovely day, we will have to do some more of these day trips over the Christmas school holidays.

Waiting for the Paint to Dry

I have the shed to myself this weekend so I have been painting all afternoon and am at a bit of a stand still until some things dry so I thought I had better update my poor neglected blog.  My mother keeps asking me when I'm going to update it as it’s the only way she knows what’s happening with us.

Tony is away in Griffith racing this weekend , I was emailing our friend who didn't go, if he was having trouble listening to it on the internet, he was and then told me Tony rolled the car during the prologue.  He said that he thinks Tony, Gary and the car are okay but that was all the information I could get.  Tony isn't answering his phone so will have to sit tight until someone phones me.  Fingers crossed they will still be able to race tomorrow.

It’s been a few weeks since I updated and we were in the middle of Redcliffe eisteddfod, the Sunday was just as successful as Saturday the group received first in the National Section and second and third in the Open Jazz.  The school received a lot of Studio Awards.  Some pictures of the some of the costumes, these were not taken by me some where taken with phones so they are not the best quality.

This was their hip hop costumes.

The following week Tess did work for the Showtime Talent Agency at Northlakes Shopping Centre.  She worked everyday supervising children making dragons, she also dressed in the dragon suit and walked around the shopping centre.  It was a long week as it was an hours drive to the shopping centre the days I dropped her off I stayed until she finished.

On the Tuesday I had some jobs for Tony to do in Boondal so Lucy and I went op shopping from Sandgate up to Redcliffe.  We found a few goodies mainly white crockery for my kitchen dresser.  I didn't take any photo’s of the things I found,  I scored a lovely white jug , some white plates and an old fashioned table cloth I cant remember what else I got .  After we headed home I had some money to spend for my birthday which was a few weeks ago.  I went to a curtain and homeware store in Nambour and got this.

Horrible photo’s the light was terrible but it’s a throw for my lounge it’s very pretty I also got a wrought iron toilet roll holder.  I found this at a shop in Northlakes I had been eyeing them off for a while now.

DSCF6831

All the stores had sales so I scored some cheap white platters

platter

Couldn't get them too large as they wouldn't fit into my dresser.  Anyway the things should be dry now.  Still have more to post about including our trip to the Brisbane Botanical Gardens.

Bye for now
