Had a Fantastic Week

Wow this week has flown.  I'm finally a stay at home mum again (sort of) it feels really strange to have finished work no doubt I will get used to it.

Cat Stevens was fantastic, the concert was absolutely brilliant. His voice has hardly changed over the decades still so beautiful.  Tess and I really enjoyed Fame the Musical, so much energy and boy they could sing.  We have been really spoilt this week.

This weekend saw Tess competing at the Redcliffe eisteddfod (about an hour from home).  Today I got up at 4.30am to get the rest of them up by 5, we needed to leave by six.  We left twenty minutes late but were still able to stop for much needed coffee .  Tess danced in one section in the morning twice, Open Novelty which they placed first and second.  Then we had to wait until the last section this afternoon  for them to compete in the open Hip Hop which they won.  Scpac won everything else that they entered but one which they placed fourth so it was an extremely successful day.  Fortunately Tess wasn't dancing tonight or in the morning we just have the afternoon session.  Open Jazz , they are entered twice, I'm really looking forward to this as one is a new dance and I haven't seen it before and Open National. So it will be a relatively short day.  Through Scpac’s talent agency Showtime Tess has work everyday next week at North Lakes Shopping Centre from 9 until 2 at $30 an hour I would do this no worries.

The eisteddfod was held at the Redcliffe Cultural Centre which is only a block to Moreton Bay so we walked down there to have lunch.

Change Is Good (I hope)

There’s a lot going on in my household at the moment. After almost five years I've decided to quit work at the bakery and finish up next Wednesday.  One thing for sure I wont miss if is getting up at 4.30am. I'm going to miss the customers as I've come to know some of them very well over the years. I guess I will see them around.   A lady who comes into the bakery nearly everyday for her French Vanilla slice or sometimes an apple danish said that now she is going to have no one to talk football with lol. One of my reasons for leaving work is that we are expanding our business and buying another truck.  No I wont be driving it although I could.  So I will have more bookwork to do, so I really need to be on top of things.

Lucy turned 14 on the 9th of June.  14 going on 19 I think I'm sure I didn't have attitude like hers when I was that age .  I haven't taken any photo’s for the last few weeks which is so not like me .  Lucy and I can never agree on the type of photos we want she hates the photo’s I take of her and I hate how she wants all her photo’s to look like My space photos, you know the ones I mean lol that results in not a lot of photos of her at the moment.  She had a good day she finally got her IPod Touch and we had dinner at Sizzlers I took her shopping a couple of days later for some clothes.

Tess has started dancing full time, she will start her Diploma next year and it will take two years to complete.  It’s killing her at the moment.  She has such sore muscles that she can hardly move this week.  She is so cranky because she is so tired.  We have been trying to stay out of her way. They have another eisteddfod in two weeks at Redcliffe she is looking forward to that.

Tony competed and finished The Finke Desert Race.  He finished 18th outright and fifth in class.  This was great considering he had to stop twice on the way back.  The accelerator cable slipped off and then the exhaust fell off knocking a lead apart causing all the power steering fluid to leak.  Fortunately a spectator had the oil that they needed so they were able to keep going.   It’s such a hard race just to finish is an achievement .  I haven't seen any photo’s yet as his navigator has them.  I really missed not going this year so roll on next year.  How cool is this picture I didn't take it obviously but I got it off the ABC local Alice Springs site I believe it was taken by someone who goes by the name of Dane the Viking.  Love it

Only a few more days until Tony and I go and see this man in concert.  Yusuf Islam formerly known as Cat Stevens.  This is a concert I never thought I would see.

Yusuf

To say I'm excited is an understatement.  I have always loved his music. Then on Wednesday night Tess and I are going to see Fame the Musical

I'm really looking forward to this.  Anyway better go

Our Northern NSW Weekend

Seems like an eternity since I've been to my blog.  I've had a few really busy weeks with a lot going on.

A few weeks ago the girls and I went to visit my sister as my mum and grandma were visiting.  I hadn't seen them since October so that was really nice.    We travelled down to Northern NSW after I finished work on the Friday.  It’s a great run down there only takes about 3 1/2 to 4 hours.  We stayed  at the Garden Inn Woloongbar I recommend this motel as this is the second time we have stayed here it’s very comfortable and clean, the owners are very friendly.

Saturday we dropped Tess and Izzy off in Byron Bay, Tess was dying to do some shopping there and Jen, Lucy and I went to Bangalow, such a cute little town.  We always go to the Bangalow markets but unfortunately they had been on the week before.

We were starving so we had lunch at the Utopia Cafe.   Oh my goodness the food was superb , pricey but superb I had the  Grilled organic sourdough bruschetta, caramelised pumpkin, soft feta and macadamias such a simple meal but so beautiful, makes my mouth water just thinking about it .  Would love to go back again.

My main reason for going to Bangalow was to go to Heaths Old Wares .  One look at this place it was like I had died and gone to heaven.  They have so much stuff, and the owners were lovely, lovely people. I will definitely be going back here again.

I would have like to take that old railway seat home with me if I could have fit it in the car.

Another beautiful shop that had some serious eye candy was  Millar and More, check out their homewares and gorgeous linens.   I've ordered a bird cage from them .

Sunday we just hung around at Jon and Dan’s place as we had to leave just after lunch to come home.

We had a lovely weekend but on a sad note my grandma had a mild stroke at Sydney airport the next day after these photo’s were taken and was in hospital for a week.  The good news is that she is on the mend but it really has taken a lot out of her, she is 98 in September.  Get well Nanny,

Another Great Day

The girls had another very successful day.  They competed in two sections   Open Up Tempo which they won and Open National which they placed second.  The adjudicator wanted to award equal first to both teams but was unable and unfortunately awarded first to the other team.

This is the only photo I took all day.  This is Tess in her Jazz costume.

A bit of a catch up

Well it seems like an eternity since I've updated my blog.  Time gets away so quickly and May is always one of our busy months.

Firstly it’s been two years since our lovely Heather left us .   Often we will be talking about something and say Oh Heather would have loved this.  She is always in our thoughts and is greatly missed .

On the 13th of May my eldest turned 17 I still think I'm way too young to have a 17 year old.

It was the first time in four or five years that I have actually been home the morning of her birthday which was really nice.  She was spoilt and was given a flat screen TV for her room and a huge surprise was tickets to go and see Fame the musical.  You can check out the website    HERE.  We are really looking forward to this.

We went out for breakfast at Wendy’s Cafe Delish in Montville, which was lovely sitting out on the balcony in the sun on a chilly autumn morning.  Then I took her shopping for HOURS at Maroochydore Plaza.  She topped up her wardrobe nicely.  Hope you had a great day Tess.

Friday saw the start of the older groups competition at the Sunshine Coast Dance Eisteddfod.  This eisteddfod is huge it runs over two weeks.  Weekdays are solo performances and the two weekends are the group performances.  This is the first time in a few years that Tess hasn't danced a solo.  On Friday her school, SCPAC came 1st in the Open Hip Hop, Fourth in the Open Up Tempo, there were only two points difference between fourth and first, it was so close.  They got a second place in the Open Novelty and Cabaret section.  Tomorrow they are dancing in the National Section and the Open Up Tempo section.  The standard of this years eisteddfod is so high it’s a pleasure to watch the older groups dance.  Although I do struggle watching Tap and a lot of classical.

I am also going to see Yusuf or better known as CAT STEVENS I'm more excited to see this than I am fame and they are both on during the same week.  Better get going as it’s getting late.
