Fabulous Weekend

The weekend has come and gone and it’s back to reality, I really wish I was still there.  We got up on Friday morning at 3am to catch a 6.30 flight.  I'm glad Tony was wide awake for the hour drive to  Brisbane because I felt barely conscious.  We had to drop our car off at 5am then they drove the ten minute drive to the airport and had us there by 5.20 it was great no stress and plenty of time to check in before boarding at 6am.  I don't do early mornings very well which is funny considering I had a job that required me to be at work by 5.30 for four years.

The flight was uneventful and we landed at Proserpine airport just before 8am then whisked off on a bus to Abel Point Marina at Airlie Beach where we were able to grab some coffee before the ferry was due at 10am.  It only took about 25 minutes to get to Daydream.

Welcome to Daydream Island. The island is only a kilometre long and about 500 metres wide with a tiny hill in the middle.  We were lucky that our room was ready and we were able to check in straight away.  We went and found Tony’s brothers and sat by the pool just swimming ,drinking and having lunch until 1.30.  Then it was time to get ready for Mel and Clint’s wedding.  The wedding was at Lovers cove which is a little beach with a wooden deck over looking the water and islands.

I have two hoods for my lens and  both have gone missing so I really struggled taking photos at the wedding which was disappointing as the glare was so bad.  I'm hoping to be able to do something with the photos in Photoshop but this couple were the cutest couple there apart from the bride and groom.

It was a gorgeous wedding, relaxed yet very elegant I loved the dresses and the location it was one of the more enjoyable weddings that I've been to.

The reception area which overlooked another beach, pier and islands.  It was so beautiful, food was superb especially the pavlova it was the best I've ever tasted I knew not to eat it but I did and as a result was back to my room by 10.30pm with a really bad headache and woke up at 3 in the morning with a migraine.  No more photos from the night as they show bad behaviour and I think the worse behaved were the Uncles, need I say more.  Lets just say they were rather amusing.

Next morning was off to a bit of a slow start, I swear I drank the least and I think I felt the worse, hardly fair is it.  Once the headache dimmed and after breakfast we went back to Lover’s cove as Tony wanted to do some snorkelling. The rest of the day was spent walking around exploring, an afternoon sleep then dinner.

It was too much for some.

Now dinner deserves its own post.  Oh my goodness I really thought I’d died and gone to heaven.  We decided to go to the seafood buffet and it didn't disappoint.  I had Lobster, crab, prawns, bugs, muscles and oysters and then there were wonderful salads and hot food as well. I'm salivating just at the thought of it again.

This photo isn't the best as it was taken on the I phone.  This was plate number one I hate to admit but I went back four times, the lobster was my favourite.

Sunday was our last day so we were up early for breakfast, fresh fruit, bircher muesli and pancakes to start the day.  We said Goodbye to some then the rest of us went down to the Daydream village to hang beside the pool for a couple of hours before we had to leave at 1.50pm.

We arrived home at 5.30 just in time to listen to the Grand Final.  It was lovely to be home and the house was lovely and tidy, Tess even managed to get Lucy to clean her room.  This is what the weather was like here on the coast yesterday, wet and cold.  Welcome back to the Sunshine Coast.

Would I go there again?  Most definitely however it is so expensive especially food and drinks and there are no facilities for you to take your own food and drink, if you could sneak alcohol in do it.  I would only go there in winter but that’s just me I hate humidity.  Be prepared to queue they don't have enough staff on anywhere.  For some reason we were booked on the wrong ferry and missed the connecting bus to the airport although the girl at reception recommended we go on the ferry that we did we had to fork out another $94 in taxi fees (we had already paid for the bus back to the airport) I have spoken to a manager on the island and at the moment am waiting for him to phone me today.  There is a lot of buck passing between the reservation office (which made the first mistake they had us leaving on Saturday) and the Island but it will get sorted.  Beside that we really did have the best time.

Bye for now

HAPPY BIRTHDAY- 100 Years Old

Its not often you get to meet someone that is 100 years old.  Yesterday the 12th of September my Nanny turned 100.

Unfortunately Tony and Lucy were stuck in Griffith and missed the party,  Tess and I did the three and a half hour drive to Alstonville.  Nanny received lots of beautiful flowers, cards and letters from very important people such as the Queen, Governor General,  the PM and numerous other politicians.

We went to lunch at Summerland House Farm better known as The House with no Steps.  Lunch was lovely as I'm on my HCG protocol I'm not allowed a large variety of food I opted for a lovely quiche and salad I was naughty and had a few mouthfuls of birthday cake which was delicious.  Then it was time to turn around for the drive home  I'm so glad we were able to celebrate her birthday with her and I hope there are more to come.

A Day In My Life–Thursday 6th September

I haven't done one of these for ages and decided to a couple of days ago to do one and as it turns out we had a very busy day.

Tony and Lucy left on Wednesday to drive to Millicent in South Australia, as I didn't have to wake up to get Lucy to school I had a bit of a sleep in so got up at 7am.  I was slack the night before so the first thing I did was wash the dishes yes I know I wasn't going to put this picture in this post but it looked better than the horrible green drink at the top.

Started round 2 of  the HCG Protocol again so have to have drops when I get up and a horrible green drink which is colloidal  silver, super greens, probiotics and salt. It’s so gross

The smell of Jasmine is beautiful as it wafts through the house and you can smell it all over the yard.

IMG_1943

Its going to be a warm couple of days.

My list

IMG_1947

As we had a lot to do we wanted to leave home at 8.15 all was going well until Tony phoned me just as we were heading out the door.  They were a bit confused about which was to go as you can see on the map it all ended up the same place.  Men are hopeless at directions, I might add that they had a map with them.  Any way spent twenty minutes or so doing that and naturally were late getting out the door.

IMG_1946

Milly’s sad because we told her she had to stay at home, she loves going for drives

IMG_1945

Bored at the roadworks, they have been going for ever they are supposed to be completed this month I really hope so.

IMG_1949

Finally on our way we drove thirty minutes to Kawana I needed to get some curtains from Spotlight

IMG_1952

Needed to go to Office works to stock up on inks

IMG_1955

Next stop was Sunshine Plaza we only had until 11.30 as Tess had to meet a friend for coffee.

First on the agenda was coffee for me I was getting desperate .

IMG_1956

One of my favourite stores.

IMG_1957

It was time for Tess to meet her friend at Starbucks at Mooloolaba so I tagged along

1pm we headed back to the Plaza to finish our shopping, a trip to Target was necessary  then Pillow Talk as I was going to buy some new sheets.  Ended up leaving there without spending a cent, very unusual .

Maroochy River looking lovely this afternoon

IMG_1980

A quick stop at our Fruit shop, it’s lovely that we have found milk in glass bottles and a bonus is it’s organic.

IMG_1981

One last stop at the local scrapbooking shop but they didn't have want I wanted.  I've been organising my scrapping stuff and needed a 12 x 12 display folder (it as about 30 plastic sheets in it) for border paper, she said she will get some more in next week.

We don't have mail delivery in town, we all have to pick up our mail at the post office.

IMG_1195

And it was a good mail day received my kit from Cut and Paste

IMG_1993

I felt really tired by the time we got home, as soon as I walked in the door the phone rang it was Tony to tell me the gearbox in the fifth wheel was stuffed and they had left the truck in Griffith, a friend of ours, brother in law lived there and lent Tony and Gary two 4wd’s and a car trailer so they were able to get on their way. Tony was blown away by his generosity  The only problem was accommodation they had a camp site but obviously they needed a cabin, van or a room I rang every motel, hotel caravan park in Millicent all were booked out.  Lucky other friends had spare swags and a tent, they were able to take their mattresses out of the truck and doonas etc. so they will probably be quite comfortable.  Tess and I were saying that we were so glad we didn't go I did find a room in Mt Gambier but they decided not to take it.

IMG_1985

Tess went to her boyfriends place and I had a lovely night at home.  I kept sorting out my scrapping stuff at one point, only briefly you could see the dining table.  Dinner was a lovely steak and salad, then I watched an episode of Taggart and Inspector Morse.  I feel asleep while watching it so ended up in bed about midnight.

Tony will drive back to Griffith on Sunday night / Monday after racing all weekend, the  new gearbox will be there on Monday (we hope) then Tony will drive to my mothers at Alstonville NSW as it’s my Grandmothers 100th Birthday on Wednesday and we are driving down for the day for lunch with her.  I told Tony that they better not be late .  Fingers crossed him and Lucy get there on time.

Bye for now
